Today I Forgive

Today I forgive
the world. It doesn't notice.
Only my heart does.

Lovely.

And the world forgives you, too...or, at least I do...or I would, if I was mad at you or you'd done anything I'd need to forgive you for...does a person have to do something wrong to be forgiven?

I hope you'll forgive me my weird rambling thoughts...

Between you and Dr. Jay, these are lovely thought to start the summer with. And I suspect the world will notice, in its own indirect way. Happy, peaceful June!

I'm usually a very forgiving person. But I'm having a hard time with the BP oil catastrophe. I don't know if I can ever forgive BP for taking such absurd risks with our environment. They had absolutely no backup plan for their equipment failing at 5,000 feet. How do we deal with gross criminal negligence on this level.

(Brooks, if this comment seems out of place on your blog, just delete it. I can't get this off my mind, so it's triggered by everything.)

Such a wonderful little poem, Brooks.

Whenever I find myself having these kinds of gorgeous and all-encompassing thoughts, I feel so blessed!

But then I want to go back and check in with myself. Am I really feeling this way? Do I really embrace this idea?

I know in my own life, it is very easy to look around myself and generally forgive "everyone", myself included.

But knowing my rather dicey relationship with my mother especially, I have to make sure I'm telling the truth. Does my concept of "everyone" really include all people, including my mother? Including people that drive me crazy at work? And including people that were once in my life and no longer are?

Sometimes that is true, and other times it isn't. These days it's more true than not, but still. It's good to be honest with ourselves on a microscopic level with these things...

Truly beautiful and much needed sentiment. It is easy to get caught up in a "the world has wronged me ... or us ... or them" mentality. I love how your poem inspires empowerment and taking responsibility for the world you want to create.

And in just a few words - that's amazing!

Thank you, Brooks!
