Even in Australia. There is so much condescension and deprivation of basic freedoms going on. <br /><br />There's nothing like the heartbeat and sounds of contentment that arise from real, live pets when we pat them. Of course, robots can't compare. Seems like a very strange idea.<br /><br />And it's love that we need at all points in our life, not just some of them! Whether it's a pet or an equally old and wrinkly boyfriend (yay for your gran!) or a nurse who knows us. We all need affection.<br /><br />BUT we also have to be willing to let other people in, too. That's as much a part of our suffering as the absence of people who love us. Because they might be right there, willing to share with us but if we still have ourselves tightly wrapped in a plastic bubble (see-though but impenetrable), then we do ourselves and others a dis-service.<br /><br />I hope you aren't beating yourself up about not taking that flight. That your gran had her boyfriend there, yeah, it counts for a lot. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
